Making the Leap to Full-Time

Recently, a subscriber asked for some advice to help her achieve her goal of going full-time in her MLM business in a year’s time. I shared with her some of my thoughts about what it takes to make the big leap to go full-time. If this is your goal as well — here’s some things you can do to prepare yourself so you can make that dream into a reality.

Reduce your expenses over the next year. If you have debts -- start a plan to start paying them off right now -- and don’t incur any new debt in the next year. Use this year when you have your salary AND the part-time income to clear the decks and get ready. You also may want to start building up your savings so you’ll have a fall back if you have a down month so you won’t have to worry about how you’ll pay your expenses.

Cultivate and find some real business builders in your MLM business -- and help them achieve their financial goals. Let them know what your plans are and find out what their financial/business goals are for the coming year. This way you can use the synergy from all your goals to propel yourselves forward.

If you don’t belong to a local Leads club or networking club -- join one now. Start to get involved in the club and even volunteer for a leadership position. Networking is one of the best ways I know to increase your business and people that actively give referrals to other members will get referrals in return.

Even though you are still part-time -- treat your business as if it were a full-time business. Focus as much time as you can on your business and don’t get involved with any extra outside activities that would interfere with your business goals.

MLM? Nah, I'll Just
Get a Second Job
By Suzanne Miley

Seems like everyone needs or wants more money these days. I'd say at least half my friends and family work more than one job. Usually, the second or part-time job doesn't pay as well as the first, but it's also a less strenuous position.

For example, my brother is an accounting manager during the day and delivers newspapers on nights and weekends. He gets to drive around, have time to himself to think. That's cool, but where are these jobs going to take him and my other friends in the next few years?

My feelings are that most of my friends and family are going to either A) be in pretty much the same financial shape they are now, just be more tired, B) burned out from working so much and quit their part-time job, or C) get laid off or downsized and end up with one or two totally different jobs. In other words, things probably won't be any better for them a year from now than they are today.

Why is this? People usually get part-time jobs to pay off debts, to maintain a standard of living, or to save up for something they want to buy. My neighbor's working a part-time job right now because he is saving up for his wedding next year, for example. These are all valid reasons for working for more money.

But, these are humans we're talking about here. People that are influenced by the world around them. The convenient world, you know, where you pay a little more for things because you're SO busy and it's SO easy. You pick up dinner instead of fixing it at home, you have someone else wash your car.

Speaking of cars, aren't you putting more miles on that old clunker since you're working two jobs? Don't you DESERVE a new car since you're working SO much? OOPS, there just went the extra money from your part-time job.

Now, let's take a look at how things might be different if you start a part-time network marketing business instead of taking that part-time job. You take $300 and buy your business starter kit, your first months products, various books and tapes about network marketing, some leads, and maybe a second phone line. You spend about 10 hours a week learning -- about the products, the company, the industry. You place small classified ads and tell people you know that you've started a part-time business and invite them to try your products risk free.

In this scenario, you have picked the days and times that you worked. Maybe you work your business after your kids go to bed, or maybe you get up an hour early and do some studying. You still have a life, and you're doing most of your work from home.

Now, the obvious difference between your own network marketing business and a part-time job at this point is that you would have gotten a paycheck with the job by now. But, just stay with me - it gets better.

After 3 months of 10 hours a week, you're breaking even or maybe even making some profit with your networking business. Now, let's project out to 12 months from now.

You've gotten quite a few customers that love your products and order them every month. You've even found a few people that want to build a business. Your income is growing every month, and here's the important thing -- your income is growing every month, but you aren't putting in any more hours each week. Think about this -- your business and income from your networking activities are expanding because you now have a team of people working for your success instead of you having to go it alone.

Your customers love you and your products, so they tell their friends, who in turn buy more products. And, don't these people have friends and family?

Your downline believes in you and your company. They are working their 10 or more hours a week each, for their success AND yours. If you have 10 distributors each working their business 10 hours per week, your 10 hours of effort each week just became 110 hours. See how powerful this is?

With all of the opportunity for financial and personal growth in a part-time networking business, why would anyone get a part-time job?

Discover the 90/10 Secret:
It will change your life.
(C) 2001, Arlen Busenitz

The 90/10 secret is incredible! Very few know and apply this secret. The result? Millions of people are suffering undeserved stress, trials, problems, and heartache. They never seem to be a success in life. Bad days follow bad days. Terrible things seem to be constantly happening. There is constant stress, lack of joy, and broken relationships. Worry consumes time, anger breaks friendships, and life seems dreary and is not enjoyed to the fullest. Friends are lost. Life is a bore and often seems cruel. Does this describe you? If so, do not be discouraged. You can be different!. Understand and apply the 90/10 secret. It will change your life!

What is this secret?

10% of life is made up of what happens to you. 90% of life is decided by how you react.

What does this mean? We really have no control over 10% of what happens to us. We cannot stop the car from breaking down. The plane may be late arriving, which throws our whole schedule off. A driver may cut us off in traffic. We have no control over this 10%. The other 90% is different. You determine the other 90%! How? By your reaction. You cannot control a red light, but you can control your reaction. Don't let people fool you, YOU can control how you react! Let's use an example.

You're eating breakfast with your family. Your daughter knocks over a cup of coffee onto your business shirt. You have no control over what just happened. What happens next will be determined by how you react.

You curse. You harshly scold your daughter for knocking the coffee cup over. She breaks down in tears. After scolding her, you turn to your spouse and criticize them for placing the cup to close to the edge of the table. A short verbal battle follows. You storm upstairs and change your shirt. Back downstairs you find your daughter has been too busy crying to finish breakfast and get ready for school. She misses the bus. Your spouse must leave immediately for work. You rush to the car and drive your daughter to school. Because you are late, you drive 40 miles an hour in a 30 mph speed limit. After a 15 minute delay and throwing $60 away, you arrive at school. Your daughter runs to the building without saying good-bye. After arriving at the office 20 minutes late, you find you forgot your briefcase. Your day has started terrible. As it continues, it seems to get worse and worse. You look forward to going home. When you arrive home you find small wedge in your relationship with your spouse and daughter. Why? Because of how you reacted in the morning.

Why did you have a bad day?

A) Did the coffee cause it?
B) Did your daughter cause it?
C) Did the Policeman cause it?
D) Did you cause it?

The answer is d. You had no control over what happened with the coffee. How you reacted in those 5 seconds is what caused your bad day. Here is what could have and should have happened.

Coffee splashes over you. Your daughter is about to cry. You gently say "It's OK honey, you just need to be more careful next time". Grabbing a towel you rush upstairs. After grabbing a new shirt and your briefcase, you come back down in time look through the window and see your child getting on the bus. She turns and waves. You and your spouse kiss before you both go to work. You arrive 5 minutes early and cheerfully greet the staff. Your boss comments on how good of day you are having.

Notice the difference. Two different scenarios. Both started the same. Both ended different. Why? Because of how you REACTED. You really do not have any control over 10% of what happens. The other 90% is determined by your reaction. Here are some ways to apply the 90/10 secret.

If someone says something negative about you, do not be a sponge. Let the attack roll off like water on glass. You do have to let the negative comment affect you! React properly and it will not ruin your day. A wrong reaction could result in losing a friend, being fired, getting stressed out, etc. How do you react if someone cuts you off in traffic? Do you lose your temper? Pound the steering wheel? (A friend of mine had the steering wheel fall off!) Do you curse? Does your blood pressure skyrocket? Do you try and bump them? WHO CARES if you arrive 10 seconds later at work? Why let the blue car ruin your drive? Remember the 90-10 principle, and do not worry about it!

You are told you lost your job. Why lose sleep or get irritated? It will work out. Use your "worrying" energy and time into finding another job.

The plane is late. It is going to mangle your schedule for the day. Why take out your frustration on the flight attendant? She has no control over what is going on. Use your time to study, get to know the other passenger, etc. Why get stressed out? It will just make things worse.

You now know the 90-10 secret. Apply it and you will be amazed at the results.

Is Your Warm Market Cold?
By Karen Kosel

Some people seem to have the ability to attract people to what they are doing. It doesn't matter what they do, everyone is interested and even wants to follow their footsteps. Have you seen some people that get so much support from their friends and family that products are bought even if they weren't needed, or people sign up just to support their friend or family member?

Not so with me. I COULDN'T SELL SOAP TO MY OWN MOTHER! And that's the truth. Years ago, I joined a company, and my own family wouldn't buy from me. Now I love my family dearly. They are wonderful people. They just didn't give me the support I needed. Did I stay in that business? No. I have tried a few things over the years, getting very little support from anyone close to me. I heard "It can't be done!" and "You won't make it work!"

I used to take this personally. I suspect that many of you have gone through this. Once you get this reaction, it is hard to tell anyone what you are doing again. I have read a terrible statistic lately, and I have seen it quite often. I read that 95% of home businesses fail. If this statistic is correct, could it be possible that one of the reasons for so much failure is your warm market? Too much negativity.

I decided from now on, I just don't care what others are going to think. I can do this business without them. The beauty of an Online Business is you do not have to hit up your family and friends. With actual Internet users estimated to over 322,000,000 you have here a large, untapped market of information hungry people, all over the world. More and more people are now looking for ways to start their own business and the Internet is just the right place for that.

The best part is that this number is increasing at a rate of 100,000 new users per day. The Internet has created the opportunity for you. You just need the right product and tools to be successful in your own business.

So, with millions of Internet users, having the same vision of financial independence, the market just gets bigger and bigger everyday. Here's where you come in by providing this large untapped, market with the tools and resources to build their own success.

There has never been a better time for you to work from home and build a business than right now. The computer has been said to have the most impact on our lives. How would you like to have someone working for you 365 days of the year, 24 hrs a day. Wow, how expensive that would be. With the Internet, you can have a fully automated system working for you even when you are asleep or playing.

When asked, 96% of the people polled said that they would like to have their own business. Most of these people want to work from home. The Internet can make that dream of having your own home business come true. It doesn't matter where you live. You can live in Alaska, rural Montana, or any remote area and still have a very successful home business if you have a computer and an Internet connection. You do not need to live in a highly populated area. The Internet makes the dream of a home based business available to everyone, no matter where you live.

Network Marketing, is a largely misunderstood concept, but I can assure you, it is worth taking some time to find out more about it! Network Marketing is the single best way to earn the income of your dreams, from the comfort of your home, without spending a small fortune!

I know what you might be thinking. You may have tried Network Marketing before, and like me, had not been successful. Maybe you were invited to a meeting at someone's house, without being told why, only to find out it was a presentation for a network marketing business. You can rest assured you do not have to run your business that way. That is not a requirement for success with Network Marketing.

What you need is a trustworthy, reputable company, a unique consumable product, a simple yet profitable marketing plan, and a fully automated way to enroll people online. You should look for a dynamic Online Marketing Team that offers step by step training led by professionals that can help lead you to success. If you have a clear, simple, and duplicable system, you too can find success in your own Network Marketing Home Business.

You can do it without your warm market. When they see changes in your life, they will come to you to see just what you are doing.

Don't Overlook the 3 Special Benefits Every Customer Wants From You
Copyright 2001 By Bob Leduc

Every customer looks for 3 special benefits when they do business with you. They may not specifically ask for these benefits. But you're losing sales if you don't automatically provide all 3.

1. FAST RESULTS

Prospective customers may take a long time deciding whether or not they will buy from you. But once they decide to buy, they expect instant results. When people buy a car they want to drive it home today. When they sign up with a health club they expect to look and feel better by the end of the week.

Look for ways you can reduce the time your customers have to wait after a transaction before they can start enjoying the results of their decision to buy. Try to deliver your product at the point of sale. When that's not possible, look for creative ways to provide a benefit your customer can start enjoying immediately.

For example, a publisher I know recently created a special package combination of his latest "how-to" book in print and several eBooks on the same subject. When customers order his new book, they can immediately download the eBooks on their computer. They don't have to wait for the hard-cover book to arrive before they can start enjoying the benefit they paid for.

2. EASY PROCEDURES

Customers want products that are easy to use and services that produce results without disturbing their daily routine. You can increase your sales by stressing the "easy to use" characteristics of your product or service in all your promotions. Convenience and ease of use are often more important to customers than price.

Simplify your buying procedure too. Make it easier for customers to buy from you and you will get more sales.

For example, many online shoppers are impatient and won't tolerate a lengthy ordering process. Minimize the number of times your customer has to click to another screen when ordering online. Use a simple order form instead of a shopping cart if you only offer 1 or 2 items. And don't ask them to give you more information than you need to process their order.

3. PERSONAL ATTENTION

Every prospect and customer wants personal attention. One way you can provide it is by giving them an opportunity to ask questions. Only interested prospects will take the time to ask questions.

Many will buy from you if they get valuable information from your answer. You can often include a promotion for your product or service as part of your answer.

Answering questions is not time consuming. The same questions will be repeated over and over again. But you only have to answer each question once if you save your answer to a permanent file. Copy it into your reply whenever you get that same question again ...and revise it slightly to personalize your response. You can answer questions quickly and your prospects will appreciate your personal attention.

TIP: If you find yourself personally answering a lot of questions, add a Questions and Answers page to your web site. Post the answers to your most frequently asked questions. It will reduce the number of questions you have to answer individually. But remember, it also deprives you of an opportunity to impress prospects with your personal attention. Every customer wants fast results, easy procedures and personal attention.

Most won't ask for these benefits. But they won't buy from you unless they get them. Make sure you provide all 3 of these special benefits ...and look for ways to improve the quality of each. Then watch how quickly your sales increase.
