    Outrageous Acts

I once asked my readers the following question “What’s the most outrageous thing you’ve ever tried to build your MLM business, and did it succeed?” Several people responded, but Marlee Huber’s response really got my attention as it will yours. Here’s what could happen in your business if you are willing to step out of your comfort zone and take a risk!

“Linda...I can't help but respond to your quest for outrageous actions. Here's mine!

We were the proud possessors of some frequent flier tickets when we got this harebrained idea. With our tickets we flew to a distant city where we participated in a large business briefing, then rented a motor home and drove 600 miles south to a state we had never visited to meet a handful of so-so distributors that we'd never laid eyes on.

The leader of this group had been active, that is until they bought a new home and discovered termites. You can only imagine who got the attention then. We did do one thing before we left home, however. We placed a classified ad in the paper for the city where we were going and told the callers we would invite them to a meeting, time and place yet undetermined when we arrived. When we arrived at our new distributor's home about four in the afternoon, we told her about the ad and said the respondents from the newspaper would be at her house by 7 PM.

Amazingly, she agreed. When her husband arrived home from work, he looked us over from head to toe and disappeared. At seven, three of the most unusual couples you'd ever want not to join your business appeared at the door. Their demeanor let us know that some of these spouses came under duress. Nevertheless, the meeting went smoothly. The three couples disappeared and never did anything--thank goodness, I can only imagine what types they would have drug into our business--and our new distributor remained constant that she really didn't care to get further involved with this business.

The whole scenario looked bleak. The good news is we remained in contact with this consultant and a short time later she told her husband, “I want to do this business, and I think I can be good.” Good isn’t the word for her. They are soon to become Diamond Directors and generally pull in the top unit volume in the nation monthly. I say “They” because her physician husband is very much involved in this business and tells his doctor buddies, “This is the best retirement program you can get.” Get me another motor home and let's hit the road, honey!!

Actually, I can’t believe we really did this--we’re both usually so shy! About my outrageous act--I only wish I had the courage to do it more often. That act has produced about 90% of my organization to date. And it’s spreading all over North America.” - Marlee Huber

I hope that you are inspired by Marlee’s story and that it gives you the courage to step out of your comfort zone this month and take a risk too!  Have an outrageous 1998!

Can You Recruit 100 People in One Week?

After a break during one of his Power Marketing Workshops, Big Al - Tom Schreiter, started off by asking how many people in the room could recruit 100 people in the coming week. There were about 60 people in the room and not one person raised their hand. Tom thought that this was interesting. He then pulled out his checkbook and pen, and then asked for a show of hands of how many people in the room could recruit 100 people in the coming week if he had a check made out in their name for $50,000 just waiting for them. This time about half of the people in the room quickly raised their hands. Tom showed mock surprise and asked them what had changed?

Several comments came back like - the money motivated them; $50,000 gave them an incentive, and so on. Tom suggested it was none of those reasons. He asked again what was it that caused people (from one minute to the next) to change their minds from “I can’t” to “I can”? There were several responses once more, and Tom again said that none of those reasons were acceptable.

Finally, he suggested that what had happened to half of the room that raised their hands was simply a change in ATTITUDE. Your attitude can be your best friend or your worse enemy. An “I Can” attitude is powerful and invigorating.

Zig Zigler says in his book “See You at the Top”, that an “I Can” attitude is the difference between the person who accomplishes and the person that does not. He suggests that whenever you have an idle moment that you write, “I Can” as many times as possible and to constantly think “I Can - I Can”. After enough concentration you can change your negative programming into a positive “I Can” attitude.

Now that you know this, you have absolutely no excuses - do you? So go out there and recruit 100 people this week and create the kind of income an “I Can” attitude can build for you!!

    It's Your Life to Live

If you continue to do what you’ve always done
You’ll continue to get what you’ve always won.
To change your rewards in life, and what you’ll be
You must change what you do, where you go, who you see.
If you don’t like the place in life, where you are
Blame no one else but you, in your movie, you’re the star.
You wrote the script, picked the cast, set the pace
You played each scene with your style and grace.
“But that’s not fair,” you say, “why blame me?
Others play their own roles, it’s not my fault, can’t you see?”
Of course others influence much that you do
But when it’s all said and done, it’s really up to you.
Choose your players carefully — mix with winners and see
How their influence can uplift and direct how you’ll be.
Think good thoughts, don’t let negativity abound
And you’ll be the type other winners want to be around.
It’s often times said, same begets same
You draw to yourself what you are, from where you come.
If you want to change where you are, from today
Change your attitude, what you do and what you say.
Direct your movie to do what you want to do
Be what you want to be, in your movie it’s all up to you.

    "What Will You Make It?"

By Kelly B. Kalcheim & Gina Rea

Resolutions, goals, and new customs. What better time to make positive commitments to your life and well-being than at the beginning of a new year?

Ignore all the puns and all of the "forgotten by February" promises of previous years. Take time to sit down at this opportune time for new beginnings and make the commitments to yourself that reflect where your deepest and truest values lie.

Forget for a while the "old stand-by" resolutions. Losing weight...exercising more.... make more money. This year, look deep within and search out those places that will *REALLY* make a difference in the new year and the rest of your life. Don't just forge through this year doing what you think you *should* be doing - do what *matters* most to you and yours.

    PRACTICAL APPLICATIONS:

If you found yourself focusing on all the negatives (internal and external) throughout the previous year, resolution group number one should be:

STOP! Don't let it drain one more ounce of strength, energy, or precious time from you.

If it's fears you face - identify them and eliminate them.

If someone or something has been a thorn in your side - clean up loose ends, finalize it, and close the door.

Focus on the funny. Exercise your sense of humor. Make it a point that whenever you are feeing inclined to focus on something negative - replace it with comedy.

If you are sitting here asking yourself, "Where did the year go and what did I get accomplished in it?" Your next resolution group could include:

Spending the next week cleaning up and getting organized once and for all.

Learn a new word. "NO." Don't spend your valuable time doing things you don't want to do; didn't intend to do; or did simply out of the inability to say no graciously.

Don't give yourself the WHOLE year to reach the goals you want for this year. Only give yourself until July 1. A full six months.

Sure-fire resolution breakers. What NOT to do if you are committed to your resolutions.

Letting outside influences manage your time.

Biting off more than you can chew.

Not being prepared each step of the way.

Expecting too much from yourself and others.

Ok, so let's say it's February now and your resolutions are dying on the vine. Don't let them go! It's never too late for new beginnings. Whether it's new years; your birthday; independence day; or a new moon...just open the door and walk right in to a fresh start.

And always remember, life is precious in itself, enjoy it every step of the way.

    The Optimist Creed

Be strong, that nothing can disturb your peace of mind.

Talk health, happiness, and prosperity to every person you meet.

Make all your friends feel that there is something in them.

Look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true.

Think only of the best, to work for the best, and expect only the best.

Be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own.

Forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future.

Wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living thing a smile.

Give so much time to the improvements of yourself that you have no time to criticize others.

Be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.
